A typical 30kw combi boiler such as the Ideal Logic Plus 30 is going to be suitable for the average 2-3 bedroomed property. The central heating and hot water output here is suitable for around 12 radiators and up to 2 showers.
However, it’s worth having a Gas Safe boiler engineer spec your property. In some cases a property that has 2 showers or extremely large radiators is going to need a bigger boiler with more central heating and hot water output, such as a 35kw combi. Ideal Boilers make a 35kw Logic Plus which would be suitable in that case.
Unlike other boilers (system and heat-only), combination boilers don’t have a hot water storage tank. That means they heat water on demand (as soon as you turn on a hot tap or shower on). So, choosing the correct output boiler here is crucial to avoid ending up with a costly boiler installation, whereby the boiler simply can’t keep up with demand.

Combi boiler installations generally sit in the £2,500-£3,500 range from a local installer. From a national provider, the price can be as much as £5,000.
The Ideal Logic 30kw combi boiler is a top-end boiler in terms of features and quality, but mid-range in terms of price. Expect the boiler unit only to be around £1,100-£1,200 from a plumbing and heating merchant; approximately £100 cheaper than the Worcester Bosch equivalent.
Of course, that’s only part of the price of a new boiler installation. You’ll also need to account for:
Whilst many installers charge up to £3,150 for a like-for-like installation, dwellow fit the Ideal Logic for £2,450-£2,600 depending on your exact requirements.

Ideal is an underrated boiler brand, but is comparable in almost every single way to Worcester. Better still, overall installation costs tend to be around £100-£250 cheaper than having an equivalent Worcester Bosch boiler fitted.
Below we’ve listed a handful of the Ideal 30 kw boiler’s top features.
The Ideal Logic Plus is by no means the cheapest boiler on the market. Whilst the Logic Plus is available (boiler only) from most plumbing merchants for approximately £1,100-£1,200, there are plenty of sub £1,000 boilers on the market.
Unfortunately, they lack both reliability and more importantly, an extensive warranty. Many of the sub £1,000 boilers will have a 2-year warranty, possibly 5-years at best.
A boiler installation is a significant (and hopefully long-term) investment. And for the sake of a few hundred pounds, it makes sense to get one with a long warranty.
Dwellow fit the Ideal Logic Plus 30kw combi alongside a 10-year warranty as well as a 12-month parts and labour warranty.
Not all boilers are compact, meaning the areas they can be installed into are limited. The Logic Plus comes complete with a compact design meaning it can be fitted into small spaces, saving you room in your property.
Looking for a boiler for your 2-3 bedroomed property that can be fitted in a kitchen cupboard or similar location?
The Ideal Logic’s compact design means this is the perfect boiler for the job.
The 30kw Logic has been winning awards and endorsements since 2013 (Good Housekeeping, Queen’s Award and more). Amongst some of their endorsements comes one from the Energy Saving Trust, partly thanks to its A-Rated efficiency.
Courtesy of Ideal’s specification sheet (source), here are the energy ratings of the 30kw combi:
Like many top rated boiler brands, Ideal has integrated Frost Protection into the Logic 30.
When temperatures hit below freezing, a lot of boilers will lockout. They won’t work again until they’re repaired and reset.
Why do they lockout in cold weather? Typically, the condensate pipe freezes. This is where waste gases and fluids escape from your property.
The built-in automatic Frost Protection setting that Ideal has integrated into the Logic’s design means no more lockouts due to the condensate pipe freezing, and no expensive emergency boiler repairs during winter!
Put simply, any boiler fitted with power modulation technology is going to save energy, and save you money.
The central heating output of the Ideal Logic Plus 30 is 25.6kw, but this can be modulated to as low as 6.4kw, representing a huge energy and cash saving for homeowners that have this boiler fitted.
As we mentioned, sub £1,000 boilers aren’t just unlikely to have a long warranty, they’re also unlikely to have energy saving features such as power modulation either.
Let’s face it; boilers are ugly. Whilst a lot of boilers are compact and can be tucked away in a kitchen cupboard, a lot of the pipe connectors are still on show.
In comparison to the average boiler the Ideal Logic Plus has a lot less on show, thanks to many of the connections being concealed. Not so important if you’re fitting this boiler in an airing cupboard, but massively important if it’s fitted by being hung on a kitchen wall.
If you’re struggling along with an old boiler, you’re probably also dealing with a complicated control panel. A lot of older boilers have limited functions available, or are simply hard to use.
The Ideal Logic Plus uses a large and easy to use LCD making this boiler ridiculously easy to control in comparison to your old boiler.
