Property Suitability

The Energy 25C is a 25kW boiler. Typically, a 25kW combi boiler is suited to compact properties such as small apartments, flats, or 1-2 bedroom houses. 

If you have a compact property using up to 10-12 radiators and only 1 shower, the Glow-worm Energy 25C is going to be perfect. 

However, the Glow-worm Energy combi boiler does come in 2 other sizes; 30kW and 35kW. 

The 30kW is suited to 2-3 bedroom properties, but again, only for 1 shower. If you have 2 showers, the 35kW is going to be the most suitable boiler.

Cost

Boiler Only

If you’re looking at Glow-worm prices for the boiler only (not including materials such as the flue or labour for installation), you’ll see their prices are extremely competitive. 

As an example, a comparable boiler from another leading brand would be the 4000 25kW combi manufactured by Worcester Bosch. Expect to pay around £1,150 from an online plumbing and heating merchant. 

Prices for the Glow-worm Energy 25C are much cheaper. You’ll be able to find deals in the region of £850-950. It’s a high-end boiler, yet priced in the mid-range, offering exceptional value for money.

Installation Cost

With a “boiler only” cost £200-£300 cheaper than many other leading brands, a typical Glow-worm Energy 25C installation is going to be around 10% less than the average combi.

Top Features of The Energy 25C

High Efficiency (93%)

The Glow-worm Energy 25C is an A-rated boiler, operating at 93% efficiency. That means that for every 1kWh of gas it consumes, it produces 0.93kWh of heat.  

As you can see in the above graphic produced by the Energy Saving Trust, that’s much more efficient than old boilers. 

An older D-rated boiler (working at 78-82% efficiency) would cost approximately £180 per year more to run, assuming you live in a 3-bedroom semi-detached property. 

Costs quickly spiral if you’re using an old and inefficient unit (such as a G-rated boiler); your energy bills would be roughly £320 higher than if you upgraded to an A-rated Glow-worm boiler.

Compact Design

Before buying a boiler, one important thing to check is exactly how big it is. The majority of installations we complete are in small spaces, such as a kitchen cupboard. But, not all boilers are small enough to fit in one!

The next focal point when hunting for a new boiler, is the length of the manufacturer’s warranty. 

Why? 

Because when a boiler falls outside of its manufacturer’s warranty, you’ll be footing the bill for any repairs. And these repairs certainly aren’t cheap. 

Here are some examples of what you’d expect to pay if you need to pay an engineer to fix your boiler: 

• Air pressure switch: £250
• Heating pump: £300
• Printed Circuit Board (PCB): £400
• Heat exchanger: £425
• Diverter valve: £375

We’d always suggest going for a warranty of 5-years as a minimum. 

Bear in mind that some lesser known manufacturers will provide warranties that are as little as 2-years. This simply isn’t enough when investing £2,000+ into your heating system.
