Their main competitors include leading manufacturers producing some of the most efficient combi boilers on the market, including:

Now, let’s jump into our review of the Glow-worm Energy 25C. We’ll be covering the likes of suitable properties, cost and its most notable features…
The Energy 25C is a 25kW boiler. Typically, a 25kW combi boiler is suited to compact properties such as small apartments, flats, or 1-2 bedroom houses.
If you have a compact property using up to 10-12 radiators and only 1 shower, the Glow-worm Energy 25C is going to be perfect.
However, the Glow-worm Energy combi boiler does come in 2 other sizes; 30kW and 35kW.
The 30kW is suited to 2-3 bedroom properties, but again, only for 1 shower. If you have 2 showers, the 35kW is going to be the most suitable boiler.

If you’re looking at Glow-worm prices for the boiler only (not including materials such as the flue or labour for installation), you’ll see their prices are extremely competitive.
As an example, a comparable boiler from another leading brand would be the 4000 25kW combi manufactured by Worcester Bosch. Expect to pay around £1,150 from an online plumbing and heating merchant.
Prices for the Glow-worm Energy 25C are much cheaper. You’ll be able to find deals in the region of £850-950. It’s a high-end boiler, yet priced in the mid-range, offering exceptional value for money.
With a “boiler only” cost £200-£300 cheaper than many other leading brands, a typical Glow-worm Energy 25C installation is going to be around 10% less than the average combi.
Of course, the exact cost of your installation depends on a few variables, including (but not limited to):
Generally, we’d expect the overall installation cost of the Energy 25C to be in the region of £2,200-£2,500.
As we mentioned above, the Glow-worm Energy range also includes a 30kW and 35kW combi boiler. If you choose either of these over the 25C, installation costs are likely to be higher.
Expect to pay an additional £150 for the Energy 30C (30kW) and £250 for the 35C (35kW).

The Glow-worm Energy 25C is an A-rated boiler, operating at 93% efficiency. That means that for every 1kWh of gas it consumes, it produces 0.93kWh of heat.
As you can see in the above graphic produced by the Energy Saving Trust, that’s much more efficient than old boilers.
An older D-rated boiler (working at 78-82% efficiency) would cost approximately £180 per year more to run, assuming you live in a 3-bedroom semi-detached property.
Costs quickly spiral if you’re using an old and inefficient unit (such as a G-rated boiler); your energy bills would be roughly £320 higher than if you upgraded to an A-rated Glow-worm boiler.
Use our clickable boiler installation tool here. That won’t just give you fixed prices on-screen, it will also estimate energy bill savings, which over time, could mean the boiler pays for itself!
Before buying a boiler, one important thing to check is exactly how big it is. The majority of installations we complete are in small spaces, such as a kitchen cupboard. But, not all boilers are small enough to fit in one!
The Glow-worm Energy is suited to a kitchen cupboard installation.
Dimensions are as follows:
The 30kW and 35kW Energy combi boilers share the same dimensions, so will be perfect for a small space installation too.
The next focal point when hunting for a new boiler, is the length of the manufacturer’s warranty.
Why?
Because when a boiler falls outside of its manufacturer’s warranty, you’ll be footing the bill for any repairs. And these repairs certainly aren’t cheap.
Here are some examples of what you’d expect to pay if you need to pay an engineer to fix your boiler:
We’d always suggest going for a warranty of 5-years as a minimum.
Bear in mind that some lesser known manufacturers will provide warranties that are as little as 2-years. This simply isn’t enough when investing £2,000+ into your heating system.
The Glow-worm Energy combi boiler range comes with a huge 7-year warranty as standard.
But that’s not all…
If you use a Club Energy installer, then have your boiler fitted with a Glow-worm branded flue and magnetic system filter, you’ll be able to get a warranty of up to 10-years.
A 10-year warranty for a combi boiler is up there with the very best!

Grundfos is a leading manufacturer of combi boiler pumps, based in Denmark, but supplying most plumbing and heating merchants in the UK.
Not only are Grundfos heating pumps durable, they’re extremely efficient. So, you’ll save money on your utility bills, whilst having an efficient heating system; a quicker supply of heating and hot water in comparison to a cheap heating pump.
A quality heating pump will generally cost £300+ to replace. So, when you buy a new boiler you want to make sure it’s fitted with a high quality one.
All the boilers we fit (including the Glow-worm Energy) incorporate heating pumps from a leading brand such as Grundfos.
If you’re looking for your boiler to be moved to a location, or it’s going to be in a compact installation area, your installer may need to use various elbows and extensions to make it work.
This isn’t just expensive, it also looks extremely messy.
The Glow-worm Energy’s flue can be installed via the back or top of the boiler, making the installation quick and easy (reducing labour costs), and the end result much more aesthetically pleasing.
The Glow-worm Energy 25C comes with an easy to use interface, thanks to its clear and bright LCD display. Here you’ll be able to adjust central heating and hot water temperature, adjust flow rate and more.
However, if you’d prefer to control your boiler using an external control, Glow-worm have a range of great options including:

Boilers - especially old ones - can be extremely noisy. So, when you’re looking for a new boiler, you’ll want one that’s Quiet Mark approved.
Quiet Mark tests various household appliances including:
If the product you choose is Quiet Mark approved, you know it’s quieter than the average equivalent appliance…The dBa ratings for the Glow-worm Energy are inline with the most popular boiler brands available in the UK.
The Energy 25C operates at 49dBa, which is much lower than the average of approximately 55dBa for gas combi boilers.
Just a few dBa makes a huge difference, as you can see from the above graphic produced by the FAA.
