Daikin has been producing home appliances focused on heating, cooling and ventilation since 1924. Whilst their range used to lean heavily towards air conditioning, the rise of air source heat pumps in the UK means this is now one of their main product lines. 

If you’ve already read some online reviews covering the best air source heat brands, it’s likely you’ve seen the Daikin line of pumps mentioned. Their current range includes 3 units, being the:

Grant UK has been operating since 1970. Walk into any popular heating and plumbing merchant and you’ll see products available from Grant UK. In the past, their focus has been on two things:

Like many leading brands on this review page, times are changing. Grant knows that and they’ve started to move to more eco-friendly products such as:

This is incredibly important when choosing an ASHP brand. A typical ASHP will cost in excess of £10,000 to install. Being left with a non-functional unit and no after sales care is going to mean needing to pay an MSC certified installer capable of fixing your unit (with a huge bill at the end).

3. Ideal 

Ideal Heating is a leading manufacturer of boilers in the UK. They’re most well known for their Ideal Logic Plus boiler (read our review here), a reliable boiler that competes with the likes of Worcester Bosch on both warranty, quality and price. 

Like most of the best brands on this list, Ideal is slowly moving from heating / cooling systems that use fossil fuels, over to the likes of air source heat pumps. 

One of their recent launches is the Logic Air, revealed at the InstallerSHOW 2023 and instantly winning awards, as well as the likes of Quiet Mark certification. Air source heat pumps can be noisy, and the Logic Air is one of the quietest on the market.

Reviews of the Logic Air are up there with the best air source heat pump brands on the market. However, this unit can only be fitted to small-medium sized residential homes. It's supplied as a 4kW, 5Kw, 8kW or 10kW unit. It simply wouldn't be able to provide sufficient hot water and heating for large properties, especially those with multiple showers.
