The Samsung Quiet EHS HT R32 air source heat pump (ASHP) is a unit manufactured by Samsung Climate Solutions, a brand that needs little introduction.
With dozens of top ASHP brands supplying units into the UK with a range of different models and sizes available, choosing the right heat pump is confusing.
In our Samsung heat pump review we’ll help you determine if the ultra-quiet Samsung is the right solution for you.
We’ll be covering:
Our review of the Samsung Quiet EHS HT R32 heat pump is a 10-minute read. So, if you’re short on time, bookmark this review for later and read this quick summary instead…
The Samsung Quiet R32 heat pump is available in 8kW, 12kW and 14kW outputs. This makes it suited for 3-5 bedroom properties with reasonable heat and hot water demand.
Typical installation costs sit in the region of £13,500. However, thanks to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, you’ll receive £7,500 in government funding making the total cost just £6,000.
The Samsung Quiet HT is suitable for those that want a low-noise heat pump that’s still highly efficient. You’ll get:

The first thing you’ll need to do is determine what size heat pump you need for your property, as the Samsung Quiet R32 only comes in 3 sizes:
The range of 8kW-14kW heat pumps offered by Samsung are generally going to be suitable for 3-5 bedroom properties. This assumes that your hot water and heating demand is average.
That said, if we take a 3-bedroom semi-detached house as an example, this could use anything from a 5kW-10kW unit. And that’s because there are dozens of factors that affect your overall heat demand, and therefore what size heat pump you need, including:
No property is the same, which is why we’ve created this clickable air source heat pump tool here.
Our tool will require you to input a few details about your property. It will then calculate not only if the Samsung Quiet R32 heat pump is the right unit for your property, but the exact size you need.
The cost of your samsung air source heat pump installation will depend on a few things, including:
As the Samsung HT Quiet R32 starts at 8kW in size, this isn’t going to be a cheap installation. The 8kW version of this heat pump retails at around £4,000. That’s just the cost for the heat pump, and doesn’t include any other materials or labour!
Depending on factors mentioned above, expect your heat pump installation to cost somewhere in the region of £13,500 in total.
However, this isn’t the price you’ll pay. The government is pushing for net-zero sooner rather than later, and one of the big winners is the heat pump industry.
You’ll have access to £7,500 in government funding thanks to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Put simply, your heat pump is likely to cost around £6,000 (£13,500 - government funding of £7,500).
To qualify, you need to have your heat pump installed and commissioned by a MCS registered engineer within 120 days of applying for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

Now you understand if the Samsung air source heat pump is suitable for your property in terms of size, this part of the review focus on its top features including:
As the name suggests, the focus of the Samsung Quiet R32 heat pump is to operate at low noise levels. And that's because heat pumps (in general) are reasonably noisy.
The graphic below illustrates just how a small difference in db (A) output can make a big difference.
If we take top brands such as Grant, Ideal and Vaillant, the majority of their range sits in the 52 db(A) to 58 db(A) range.
And that's not to say that they're noisy, in fact, these noise levels are similar to that of a gas boiler that's a couple of years old. And, due to the fact they're installed outside, it's unlikely you'll hear them.
The Samsung Quiet HT heat pump? It can operate as low as 35 db(A).
That means this is one of the quietest air source heat pumps on the market, and comes complete with Quiet Mark certification.

Air source heat pumps achieve their high efficiency ratings by working at low flow temperatures, around 45°C in most cases. This is a stark contrast to a gas boiler that operates at around 65°C in order to provide sufficient heat and hot water.
However, there are instances when high flow temperatures are needed from an air source heat pump.
Most typically, this is in properties where insulation or radiator efficiency isn't up to standard. In the coldest months of the year a flow temperature of 45°C simply wouldn't cut it; a heat pump wouldn't be able to heat a property sufficiently.
The Samsung HT Quiet has the ability to work 70°C if necessary, meaning you won't have any problems heating your home or generating hot water during the coldest months of the year.
Partly thanks to the R32 refrigerant that the Samsung heat pump uses, it manages to achieve some of the highest energy efficiency ratings in the industry.
Stats according to Samsung suggest a COP rating of 5. Put simply that means for every 1kWh of electricity that the unit consumes, it's able to generate 5kWh of heat; that’s 500% efficient.
Efficiency levels such as these make it easy to see why people are drifting away from gas boilers. The most efficient boilers on the market currently work at around 94% efficiency; they're consuming 1kWh of gas to produce 0.94kWh of heat.
If you’ve read any of our other reviews, you’ll know we fixate on the warranty offered by manufacturers. Whether it’s a new gas boiler, solar panels or a heat pump, the warranty offered by manufacturers shows what they truly think of their own products.
Luckily, the Samsung air source heat pump range comes with one of the longest warranties offered in the industry. It currently stands at 7-years, compared to the average air source heat pump that comes with a short 2-3 year warranty.
Remember, air source heat pumps (not including installation), cost in the region of £4,000-£5,000, so you don’t want to be footing the bill for a new one.
